Why I Started This Trading Journal

I’ve always wanted to work from home. I like my space, my peace, and the freedom to build something on my own. But as an immigrant in Canada, that wasn’t an easy dream to chase. Like most newcomers, I had to survive first, working two jobs while attending school. It was exhausting, and the money barely covered my needs, let alone allowed me to help my family back home.

That’s when I began searching for alternative ways to earn money online. I tried a bit of everything — creating motivational videos for YouTube Shorts, making rain and relaxing sound videos, and searching endlessly for something that could actually work. It was a long, tiring road with many failed attempts.

Then one day, I stumbled upon a trading video on YouTube. The flashy lifestyle of the trader caught my attention instantly, and that was the start of my trading journey.

At first, I saw trading as a way to get rich fast. I followed influencers who made it look easy. I even did some research and bought a course, thinking I was prepared. After about a month of “learning,” I jumped into my first live account — no real plan, no strategy, no trading routine. It was pure excitement and emotion.

What followed was a roller coaster. When I lost money, I blamed it on not having enough capital. So, I risked more, blew more accounts, and even tried prop firm challenges — all with the same results.

Then it finally hit me: trading isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s a skill — one that takes time, effort, and patience to master.

The funny thing is, even during my worst moments, I had one good habit — I tracked every trade on Google Sheets. Looking back at those records was humbling, but also eye-opening. I could see my mistakes clearly — overtrading, revenge trading, lack of discipline — all written in numbers. But that reflection also pushed me to do better.

I started working on myself: reading more books, studying strategies, backtesting, and searching for my true edge. Slowly, I began to understand that trading isn’t just about charts — it’s about self-awareness and continuous growth.

That’s why I decided to create this blog — to document my journey, share my lessons, and hopefully help someone else avoid the same mistakes. Here, I’ll be posting my weekly trade notes, lessons from books I’m reading, and the habits that keep me focused and grounded.

This journal is just the beginning. I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m learning one trade at a time. And if something I share here helps even one person along the way, that’s already a win.
